Varie J. Milne passed away peacefully at Rome Health on May 8, 2026, at the age of 68, following a brief illness. Born in Elberton, Georgia, on January 29, 1958, Varie was the beloved daughter of Elizabeth White. She will forever be remembered by her family and friends as a remarkably kind and compassionate woman whose gentle spirit, warm heart, and caring nature touched the lives of all who knew her.


Varie dedicated her life to the field of psychology, serving with unwavering commitment, professionalism, and compassion throughout her career. She was a highly devoted professional who faithfully worked for the Central New York DDSO, where she made a meaningful difference in the lives of countless individuals through her dedication and care. She earned her master’s degree from Morris Brown University, in Atlanta, GA, further strengthening her lifelong commitment to understanding and supporting others.


Beyond her professional life, Varie was a faithful and devoted member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, where her strong faith, kindness, and sense of community were evident to all who had the privilege of knowing her.


Varie is survived by her beloved son, Cedric Milne, of Rome, New York, who was a constant source of love and pride throughout her life. She is also survived by her cherished brothers, James Nelson Williams and Gregory Williams, whose lifelong bond, love, and shared memories remained deeply meaningful to her through the years. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, James Osborne Baskerville, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, all of whom will continue to carry her memory in their hearts.


Varie was predeceased by her beloved mother, Elizabeth White, whose love and guidance shaped her life, and by her dear sister, Rosetta Baskerville, whose memory she treasured dearly and brother Gregory Williams.


Family and friends wishing to pay their respects and honor Varie’s life are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, which will be immediately followed by a Celebration of Life service at 4:00 P.M.


Varie will be laid to rest at the Amityville Cemetery in Amityville, New York, in her final resting place, surrounded by enduring love, cherished memories, and prayers of those who held her dear throughout her life.
