John Francis Dempsey

May 11, 1954 – May 9, 2026

John Francis Dempsey passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, just two days shy of his 72nd birthday.

John was the beloved husband of Sandra Dempsey. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Shannon Mendoza and John (Kelly) Dempsey. He was a proud grandfather to Tessa, Ryan, Taylor, Joey, and Allie.

He is also survived by his sister, Sharon (Timothy) Cerio, and his brother, James (Sharon) Dempsey.

John had a deep love for music, especially The Beatles, whose songs brought him joy throughout his life. He also had a lifelong passion for cars and the automotive industry, an interest that reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship, history, and hard work.

John will be remembered for the love he shared with his family, the memories he created, and the passions that made him who he was. His presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who knew and loved him.

He is predeceased by his parents John and Mary Lou Willet Dempsey.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 4 to 6 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. A prayer service will follow at 6 P.M.
