Carmelo Catalano, 60, of Rome, NY passed away on March 12, 2026. Born in Porto Empedocle, Italy on September 2, 1965, he was the son of Calogero Catalano and Santa Maltese. Carmelo was employed by Rome Strip Steel as a machine operator as well as Indium Corporation; he enjoyed his time working and his fellow employees.

Carmelo was united in marriage to Lorella D’Ambrogio on April 30, 1988, a ceremony which took place at St. John’s Church in Rome. Together they shared a wonderful life until his passing. Carmelo loved working on computers and was always willing to help troubleshoot and solve tech problems. He also loved working on cars and could often be found tinkering on a car. He enjoyed hunting and spending time in the woods enjoying all of nature’s beauty. Most of all Carmelo loved keeping in touch with his family and friends and hearing about their latest adventures.

He is survived by his beloved wife Lorella; his son Brandon Catalano; brothers Dino (Cathy) Catalano, Giuseppe ( Emanuela "Mirella") Catalano, and Filippo (Sawang “Mao”) Catalano; sisters Franca (Rosario) Milioto, Anna (Bebbuccio) Castelli, Margherita (Joe) Samaritano; sister and brother in -laws Sabrina D’Ambrogio, Gabriella and John Flanagan, Ornella Gentile. He was predeceased by his parents; sister Celestina Latticca and brother in-law Gerlando Lattucca; sister-in-law Domenica "Mimma" Catalano; nephew PJ Catalano; father and mother in-law Antonio and Caterina D'Ambrogio; brother-in-law  Rosario Gentile.

Calling hours will be held Saturday March 21, 2026, from 12:00-3:00 PM at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Rd. Rome, NY 13440. A prayer service will follow at 3:00 PM.
