Charles A. Bole Jr. Obituary

Charles A Bole, Jr, 73 of Ava, passed away peacefully on 5 March 2026, at the Wynn hospital, after a long illness, with his family by his side. He was born on August 19, 1952 in Sharon, Pennsylvania, the only son of Charles Sr and Barbara Bole. In 1975 he married Shirley Smith. In 1979 they welcome their first son Allen, and in 1981, his son Marcus followed. He was a true entrepreneur and through the years owned several businesses including The Sub Machine restaurants, and Open-Door Realty. There wasn’t a thing around that he couldn’t fix, one of the many traits he passed along to his two boys.

He loved to learn, was down to earth and enjoyed the simple things in life. As a young man he loved to play the drums and even learned to fly a Cessna. In his spare time, you would find him fishing, boating, tinkering around camp, playing cribbage or chess and learning new technology. He enjoyed photography and truly took a beautiful picture and videoed everything. On Christmas or your birthday, the most perfect, unique and well thought out gift would be from him. He loved his 1964 red corvette, muscle cars and motorcycles. In earlier years he cherished spending weekends at camp with his boys and their friends, and everyone had an open invitation. He loved animals, of notable mention was his Irish setter Jake and most recently his cat Spike.

Chuck is survived by his two boys Allen and Marcus. He is also survived by his sister Bonnie Goetz, his niece Julie, her son PJ, his nephew Terry (Aimee) and their children Brady Cole and Griffin. Also surviving him were many special friends and extended family too numerous to mention. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley, a brother-in-law, Terry Goetz and his parents Charles and Barbara. The family wishes to thank Dr. Bushnell at Rome Health, Dr. Arul Kannan and Dr Lysette Alfaro-Berg and the staff of 5 east,8 west as well as ICU at the Wynn hospital who truly went the extra mile in caring for Chuck.

Services will be private and handled by Strong - Burns and Sprock Funeral home,7751 Merrick Road , Rome NY. A spring burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery.
