Edward R. Polczynski Jr.
Edward R. Polczynski Jr., 81 of Rome, passed away peacefully at the Abraham House of Rome on February 18, 2026. He was born on October 31, 1944, in New York Mills, N.Y., the son of the late Edward and Nellie Strzysz Polczynski Sr. He attended N.Y. Mills High School and continued his education at Morrisville College. Ed enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country. On June 22, 1974, he was united in marriage to Diane Zygmunt in a ceremony which took place in Utica, N.Y. For over 35 years Ed was employed by Lockheed Martin of Syracuse as a journeyman electrician prior to his retirement. Ed was a member of St. John the Baptist Church of Rome, the Polish Home, the Local 320 Retirees and was a proud member of the NRA.
He is survived by his beloved children, Bryan Carlile of Virginia Beach, Bradly (Maura) Polczynski of N.Y. Mills, Brittney (Daniel) Stacks of Rome; two cherished grandchildren, Krysta and Cyprianna; a nephew, Michael Przyborowski; a sister-in-law, Pamela Zygmunt. Ed was predeceased by his wife, Diane and a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Jody Przyborowski and a son-in-law, David Carlile Jr. Ed’s family wishes to thank the entire staff of the Rome Abraham House and the staff at the Wynn Hospital for the wonderful care which they provided to their father during his stay.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 4 to 6 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Funeral services with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 11 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Church of Rome
