Craig E. Mumford, 57, of Rome, passed away on December 23, 2025, at Rome Health. He was born on March 22, 1968, in Rome, N.Y., the beloved son of the late Harold and Arden Carmody Mumford.

Craig participated in the Job Connections and Delta Acres day programs and was an active participant in the Special Olympics, enjoying a variety of sports including bowling, bocce, swimming, and horseback riding. He delighted in socializing, music, dancing, and watching wrestling. Craig had a deep love for food, with spaghetti and meatballs being a particular favorite, and he cherished his weekly motorcycle rides with his uncle Jim.

Craig had a warm, playful personality, a stubborn streak, and a deep love for his family, friends, and community. Everywhere he went, people knew him, and he never missed a chance to share a laugh or a friendly greeting. He especially loved giving hugs and was always ready to offer one, brightening the day of anyone around him.

He is survived by his sister, Laura O’Connor of Rome; brother-in-law, Jack Armstrong of Penfield; nieces and nephews, Ryan (Emma) and Emily (Alexis) Armstrong, Clancy Grace, and Noah O’Connor. Craig was predeceased by a sister, Colleen Armstrong, and a brother-in-law, John “Jack” O’Connor.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at Strong, Burns & Sprock Funeral Home on Saturday, January 3, 2025, from 11 A.M. to 12 P.M., followed by a memorial service at 12 Noon. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Craig’s warmth, laughter, and joyful spirit touched everyone who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
