Marie (Mary) Christina Sacco, 95, of Taberg, NY went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2025 and reunited with her beloved husband Joseph Sacco and her son, Peter.

Mary was born in Rome, NY on November 10, 1930, the daughter of Peter Bravo and Sarah Maiola, Bravo. Following graduation from high school Mary became a successful hairdresser, she proudly owned and operated Mary’s Beauty Salon out of her home on Park Ave in Rome. Mary genuinely loved socializing with her clients and took pride in making each person feel beautiful while in her chair.

In her later years she became a devoted member of the Ava Dorfman Center now known as Copper City Community Connections. She didn’t just attend- she believed it was her job to serve others there, often telling people she “worked” at the center, a role that gave her great purpose and brought many smiles to those around her.   

Mary was united in marriage to Joseph Sacco on November 29, 1953, together they shared a blessed marriage until his passing.

Marie is survived by her sister, Elizabeth(Betty) Iodice, a daughter, Christine Sorrel of Rome; a daughter-in-law, Deborah (William) Wehnke of Rome; grandchildren, Troy (Jessica)Sacco, Kelly Sacco, Stacey (James )Tate; Gina (TJ) Garret;  Great-grandchildren, Brandon, Cason, Mia, Olivia, Jovani, and Melina.; a sister-in-law Michelina (micky), and many nieces and nephews. She shared a particularly close bond with her nephew, Mark Iodice.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Sacco; her son, Peter Louis Sacco; brothers, Joseph, Peter and Louis Bravo; brother-in-law, Richard “Dick” Iodice.  

Mary was known for her warm smile, gentle spirit, and cheerful disposition. No matter where she was or what she was facing, she greeted people with kindness and grace. Even in her final days, those who cared for her, spoke of her as someone who made others feel seen and comforted – a presence many described as angelic.

Mary had a special bond with her daughter-in-law, Deborah who acted as her caregiver for the past 22 years.

In keeping with Marie’s wishes, there are no public services. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home of Rome.
