Virginia R. Neiss Obituary

 


Virginia R. Neiss, 91, of the Town of Lee, passed away on November 4, 2025, in her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Margaretville, NY on February 11, 1934, she was a daughter of Ernest Rowe and Winifred Edwards Rowe.  Virginia was united in marriage to Neil Neiss on September 25, 1954, together they shared a beautiful life until his passing on October 14, 1988.


Virginia kept herself busy in her sprawling floral gardens that were enjoyed by so many.  She was an integral part of the Neiss Family Farm and kept everything running smoothly, which was no small task.


Virginia was proud of her family and the life that they built, she was so proud of her three daughters and loved being their mother. She especially enjoyed her role as a grandmother and great grandmother and being able to see the generations grow. She was a long-time member of the Lee United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women.


Virginia is survived by her daughters Donna Neiss of Lee, Susan (Emory) Morris of Troy, VA, Laura (Michael) McNutt of Clay; grandchildren Carmelle, Meghan, Terri, Van, Aaron, Adam, Emory Lee, and Joe; great grandchildren Maddie, Jada, Zion, Karen, Laurie, Iz’Rielle, Aleena, Wally, Ezra, Eva, Tobias, Lorenzo, and Asher; several nieces and nephews; she was predeceased by her brothers Clayton Rowe (Ethel) and Robert Rowe (Mary Jane); sister Arlene (Floyd) Ingram; great grandson Neil.

Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 2:00-4:00PM at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. A brief moment of prayer will follow at 4:00PM.
