Thomas J. Kareckas Sr.

   Thomas J. Kareckas Sr. 78, of Rome, passed away on October 23, 2025, at Rome Health. He was born in Battle Creek, MI on November 11, 1946, and was the son of the late Albert and Gladys Cummings Kareckas. He was a graduate of Penfield High School in Battle Creek, MI. Following graduation, Thomas proudly enlisted into the United States Navy in 1968, serving his country until 1978.  On November 23, 1968, he was united in marriage to Mary Kinsella in a ceremony which took place in Providence, Rhode Island. Together they raised four children, Thomas, James, Ken and Patty. Thomas was of Methodist faith and was a proud member of the American Legion.

   He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Kareckas of Rome, three sons and one daughter-in-law, Thomas, James, Ken and Nicole Kareckas all of Michigan; a daughter Patty Kareckas (Matt Kanuszewski) of Michigan; grandchildren, Hannah (Jacob) Zawada, Mary Kareckas, Spencer Kareckas, Kylee (Zack) Crable, Kyra Kareckas, Katelyn Kareckas, Gavin, Kareckas, Linken Kareckas and Kalyn Kanuszewski.

   Funeral services are private and there are no calling hours.
