Adam Keith “House Cat” Chestnut

May 25, 1965 – September 10, 2025

Adam Keith Chestnut, lovingly known as “House Cat,” age 60, of Rome, NY, passed away on September 10, 2025. He was born on May 25, 1965, in Rockland County, NY.

Adam was a true jack-of-all-trades, working as a handyman, mechanic, construction worker, and painter. He had a strong passion for life and lived it fully. He loved football, motorcycles, weightlifting, and traveling. Above all, Adam will be remembered for his strength, pride in his family, and the way he brought joy and laughter to those around him.

Adam was predeceased by his mother, Jan E. Smith; his father, Joseph R. Chestnut; and his brother, Scott Chestnut. He is survived by his children, Marcus Chestnut and Joshua Chestnut; his siblings Joseph R. Chestnut Jr., Matthew J. Chestnut, Jason Chestnut, Sheherizod Chestnut, Alfia Chestnut, and Jessica Chestnut; his forever special friend, Sue Chestnut; and his best friend, Scott Elmer. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him greatly

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Adam’s life on Wednesday September 24, 2025, from 3:00–5:00 PM at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Rd, Rome, NY 13440.
