Edith A. (Osborne, DeLong) Palmer, 83, of Rome, NY passed away on July 30, 2025, after a long illness. Born in Rome, NY on January 12, 1942, she was the daughter of Francis Osborne and Dorothy Williams. Edith was a graduate of Rome Free Academy.
Edith found joy in sewing, crafting, and bingo, but most importantly spending time with her grand and great grandchildren.
Edith is survived by her sons Francis “Ozzie” (Robin) DeLong of Rome, Albert DeLong of Rome, and Christopher DeLong of Blossvale; her daughter Angel Petrie of Verona Beach; Twelve grandchildren and thirty one great grandchildren. Sisters, Shirley “Curly” Barnard, Elizabeth “Bowie” Fish, Louise (Donald) Smith, and Carrie Smith; brother Jimmy (Sharon) Osborne. She was predeceased by her daughter Dorothy DeLong, and her siblings Arthur Joe, Barbara Jean, Walter, Robert “Butch”, and Francis Jr.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday August 9, 2025, from 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Rd. Rome, NY. A funeral service will follow at 12:00PM. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Rome, NY.
