Shane P. Hunter Obituary

Shane Hunter, 55, of Oneida, NY passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2025.  Born in Rome, NY, he was the son of Christine Sipley and Warren “Mac” Hunter. Following graduation from high school Shane served in the U.S. Navy where he was stationed in various ports including Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.


Shane was united in marriage to Stephanie Edwards on June 16, 1990. They shared many adventures and a fond love for their dogs, cats, and rabbits. Shane was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was adored by many. 


Shane is survived by his Mother Christine Arnold and Father Warren Hunter; Sisters Erin (Loren) Straub, and Kati Garcia; Nephews Jonathan Mann, Alex West, Kristopher Couey, Gwenneth Straub, and Gabriel Garcia; Several Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins. Shane is predeceased by his Wife Stephanie Hunter, Maternal Grandparents Raymond and Helen Sipley, and Paternal Grandparents Warren and Rebecca Hunter.


In keeping with Shane’s wishes graveside services with military honors will be fulfilled at 11am Saturday, July 19, 20205. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home.
