Patricia Cardone DiBerardino

Nurse D

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Cardone DiBerardino, a beloved wife, mother, and nurse.  She peacefully departed this life on July 3, 2025, at the age of 80 surrounded by her family.

Born on October 13, 1944, in Utica, NY, Patricia was the daughter of Frank and Pasqualina Cognetto Cardone.  A lifelong resident of Central New York, she graduated from Proctor High School in 1962 and went on to complete her education at St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing.  There, she earned her RN degree and worked as a surgical nurse.

On June 25, 1966, Patricia married the love of her life, Frank DiBerardino. Together, they shared a blessed union of over 54 years, filled with love, loyalty and partnership, until Frank's passing in 2021.  Patricia stepped away from her nursing career to focus on raising their children; a fiercely dedicated mother, this was a role she relished.  Once her children were in school, Patricia returned to her calling in nursing, dedicating over 25 years to the Rome City School District. Affectionately known as "Nurse D," she was a strict but comforting presence and trusted caregiver to countless students and staff.

In addition to her nursing career, Patricia worked side by side with her husband at Rome Marine, a family-owned business, helping make it a mainstay in the Rome community for nearly 60 years.

Patricia will be remembered for her unwavering love of family and her deep commitment to supporting others.  Spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was the joy of her life.  There was nothing she wouldn’t do for any of them.  She was also a lifelong Yankees fan and may or may not have been known to enjoy some nights at the casino with her husband.  Her legacy will live on.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her sons; Lou DiBerardino (Chris) Winter Springs, FL; John DiBerardino (Heather) Rome, NY; Patrick DiBerardino (Alicia) Westfield, NJ. Grandchildren; Paige (Kyle); Connar (Val); Erin (Kyle); Liam; Kaitlyn (Tim); Giannah; Dylan and Giuliana. 11 great grandchildren.  Sister-in-law, MaryLou DiBerardino Fallon; Brother-in-law Louis DiBerardino (Krista) and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters-in-law; Anthony Cardone (Yolanda) John Cardone (Frances).  Her sisters; Rose Cardone Pellegrino (Joe) and Mary Cardone and her brother-in-law; Richard DiBerardino.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Rome Health, in particular, Dr. Molica and Rome Health’s Residential Health Care Facility (3rd Floor), where they provided excellent care and friendship.
