Obituary of Deane F. Bergstrom

Deane F. Bergstrom, 89, of Rome, NY passed away on Saturday May 17, 2025.  Born

April 19, 1936, he was the son of Elmer F. Bergstrom and Irma I. Arnold Bergstrom.

Deane graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1954. He then attended Clarkson

University and Syracuse University where he received his bachelor's degree.

Deane was employed at Rome Air Development Center (Rome Laboratory) as a

Supervisory Computer Scientist; he had a bright mind and was a valued employee until

his retirement in 1996.

Deane was a lifetime resident of Rome, NY and was a valued member of the

community. He was a member of the Rome Lodge #96 BPOE, Midstate Miata Club of

NY, and St. John’s Lutheran Church of Rome. Deane enjoyed time spent with family

and friends, he was a proud father and grandfather.  Deane was elated to have recently

welcomed his first great granddaughter. Deane will be greatly missed by his friends and

family.

Deane is survived by his daughter Tricia (William) Badolato of Rome, NY; son Steven

(Tamara) Bergstrom of Rome, NY; brother David Bergstrom; grandchildren Nicole (Spencer) Oertel, Lauren

Badolato, Victoria Badolato, great granddaughter McKenzie Oertel, and beloved nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his

sister in law Judith Bergstrom.

In keeping with Deane’s wishes funeral services are private and burial will take place at

Evergreen Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Strong-Burns & Sprock

Funeral Home of Rome, NY.
