Sharon Lee Wells (Albertsen), of Rome, New York, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025, after a long illness. She was born on August 4, 1950, in Sharon, Connecticut. Sharon spent her early years in Pine Plains, New York, before relocating to Rome in 1967. She graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1968 and later attended SUNY Brockport.

Throughout her life, she remained devoted to her family and took immense pride in raising her two daughters. She dedicated many years of service to the Rome City School District and later worked as a supervisor at Turning Stone Casino until her retirement in 2017. Her strong work ethic and commitment were evident throughout her professional life. Sharon found her greatest joy in spending time with her four beloved grandchildren: Katy, Carolyn, Alexandra, and Nicolas. She cherished every moment with them and held them close to her heart. Sharon also had a deep affection for animals, which brought her much happiness over the years.

Sharon is survived by her daughters Kimberly Myka (Greg) of Chittenango, NY, and Sonja Rentzis (Leo) of Vernon, NY; her grandchildren; her partner William Magee; her sister Ann Jaeger (Robert) of Fort Mill, SC; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Karen Albertsen, and her brother Peter.

Funeral services are entrusted to Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home. A private burial service is planned for her immediate family. May Sharon’s memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sharon’s memory may be made to the Rome Humane Society.
