Obituary of Kenneth Schrader
It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of Kenny Schrader, the son of Eddie and Gloria (PaPa) Schrader. He entered into the arms of Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at the age of 66.
Kenny resided at IRA #9. He Lived in the Rome Developmental Center from 1984 until 1988 when it closed its doors. He was then moved to IRA #6 where he resided until 2023.
Kenny Attended O'Shea day hab and quickly became one of everyone's favorites. He had a big smile and when he was being sweet it was hard not to smile back. He loved Burger King, Nicky Doodles, halfmoons, soda and Peeps. He loved going to Halloween parties and interacting with his friends and the staff.
He loved listening to music and singing along to some of his favorite songs such as "Country Roads Take Me Home", "Closing Time", "Girls Just Want To Have Fun", "Time After Time", and "Africa". He would also dance and entertain the staff and his peers. He loved doing puzzles and occasionally would smoke a cigar. Going to the NYS Fair and Boonville Fair every year were some of his favorite times.
He was a jokester and loved to tease his peers and the staff. He sometimes would jokingly tell the staff "I'll give you something to cry about!" When he was having a good day there was no way that you couldn't have the same good day because his smile and energy were contagious.
Kenny will be missed by his brother Howard, sister Susan as well as his entire family at IRA #9, IRA #6, and O'Shea day hab. He has touched so many lives over the years. Chances are anyone that worked for DDSO knows or at least has heard of Kenny and has a story to tell. Fly High Kenny!
