Obituary of Charles Nelson Waters

Charles Nelson Waters, 55, of Rome, NY passed away on February 28, 2025. Born in Rome, NY on May 23, 1969, he was the son of Henry Charles Waters and Mildred Pearl Shephard. He was a gifted body technician at Riolo’s Body Shop in Rome.  Charles lived a blessed life with his lifelong partner Rogene DeMarce together they shared many adventures until her passing.

Charles was a true outdoorsman; he enjoyed time spent four wheeling exploring local trails and riding with friends. He enjoyed skiing any chance that he could and enjoyed the view from the slopes. Charles enjoyed watching NASCAR races and building model cars. He enjoyed sitting around the campfire with friends and family just enjoying each other’s company. In his spare time, Charlie enjoyed working at Brian’s Body Service of Rome, hanging out with the guys puttering around. Charlie had a special talent for color matching paint for vehicles which they were repairing. He loved to cook and had a knack for smoking meat which he always shared with friends and family. Charles was a proud and adoring grandfather who cherished any time spent with his grandchildren, they truly meant to the world to him.  Charles always put others first even if it meant putting himself in a tight spot he was always there for those in need and happy to lend a helping hand. Charles was a kind soul and a friend to all; he will be missed by his many friends and family.

Charlie is survived by his son Dillon Tiller of Maine; daughters Christina (Davignon) Villeneuve of Vermont, Tiffany Waters on New York, and Jessie Waters of Vermont; step daughter Justina Rienzo; brother Henry Charles Waters (Pam Borst); sisters Deborah (Kevin) Hanson and Gail (John) Miller; grandchildren Allie Spencer, Charlotte Tiller, Aaliyah Morse, Adrianna Morse-Blodgett, Makenna Morse-Blodgett, Soraya Cote, Jordan Zurek, Madison Smith, Michael Smith, Cameron Smith, Shay Baker, Jeremiah Rienzo, Savannah DeMarce, Asher Waters, Evalyn Waters, Mildred Waters, Iris Waters, Addison Lapoint, Wyatt Lapoint; several close friends.

In keeping with Charles wishes, services will be private. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Strong- Burns & Sprock Funeral Home of Rome, NY.
