Danny H, Town, 73, of Senecal Falls, formerly of Rome passed away on February 28, 2025, at Geneva General Hospital following a long illness. Born on July 9, 1951, in Amsterdam, NY he was the son of Harold and Regina Bujanowski Town. He moved to Oriskany when he was a junior in high school and was a 1969 graduate of Oriskany Central High School.

Growing up Danny was an avid hunter, fisherman, bowler, and golfer, a true outdoorsman. These interests were life long and followed him into adulthood. He played CYO basketball and belonged to the men’s softball league in Rome. His favorite pastime was playing bingo at the Turning Stone Casino.

On May 12, 1973, Danny was united in marriage to Karen Burk at Waterbury Memorial Presbyterian Church in Oriskany, NY. In his early years of marriage Danny was a drywall finisher, he worked for many different companies and later started his own company “Town Drywall”.

In 1993 Danny graduated from the Mohawk Valley Police Academy, he became an Oneida County Deputy Sherrif serving in the jail, road patrol, felony warrants and finally retiring from the civil division. Danny was a former member of the Oriskany Volunteer Fire Dept and the Lee Center Fire Dept.

Danny is survived by his wife Karen Burk Town; his daughter Jennifer (Richard) Mellini; step grandchildren Devin and Gianna Mellini; sister Geraldine Humphrey; brother-in-law Larry (Kelly) Burk; sister-in-law Mine Veral-Burk; many cherished friends Joe and Neva Mastraccio, Debbie and Gilbert Rogers, Ron and Anna Costello,  Scott and Brenda Hildebrandt, Richard and Bonnie Mellini, and Mike Scee who was his “bingo buddy”, Dan is also survived by his canine pal Parker, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Danny was predeceased by his parents and in laws Marge and Emil Burk; brother-in-law Alan Burk; and his brother Robert Town.

The family would like to thank his doctors in Rome and Seneca Falls for the care and compassion Danny received. Also, to the doctors and nurses in the ER and the ICU unit of Geneva General Hospital whose kindness and compassion will not be forgotten.

Calling hours will be held Thursday March 6, 2025, from 4-6 PM at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Rd. Rome, NY. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Oriskany Cemetery.
