Charlie Simmons, the beloved son of the late Emily Simmons was born September 20, 1939, Wadmalaw Island, SC.
Charlie left home at a very early age to seek work with very little education, he traveled doing seasonal work going from Florida to New Jersey, but ending up in Rome, New York in which he made his home.
He was a faithful member at Grace Baptist Church in Rome, NY, under the leadership of Pastor Trent Williams. Charlie loved his Pastor and church family.
He leaves to cherish his MEMORIES HIS beloved wife of 61 years, Lillie Pearl Simmons of Lee Center NY, Daniel Simmons/Sherri of Kissimmee, FL; Sharon Simmons of Auburn, NY, Evonne Simmons of Utica, NY; Valeria McClendon of Davenport, FL, Charles Thompson, Leroy Thompson, Chester Clark. Five siblings Henry Simmons and /Shelia McClair proceeded him in death, Shirley Robles of Wadmalaw Island, SC, and Yvonne Coulson of Lancaster, CA. Special Granddaughter Noreen Reed; Special Grandson Jason Simmons, Special Grandson Nathaniel Clark, children proceeded in death Shirley Simmons and Charlie Simmons Jr. a Host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren too many to name. He has three sister-in-Law JoAnn of Jacksonville, Fl, Annie of Lee Center, NY, Doris of Lee Center, NY. host of nieces, nephews, and cousins that loved Charlie.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 5-7 P.M. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, at 11 A.M. at Grace Baptist Church 8553 Turin Rd, Rome. The family will greet guests from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. prior to the service. Interment will take place in the spring in Evergreen Cemetery, Stokes.
