Obituary of Donna Marie Schmandt

Donna Marie Schmandt Donna Marie Schmandt, 83, of Rome, passed away on December 29, 2017, at Strong Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Rochester, with her loving family at her side. She was born on September 16, 1934 in Amsterdam, N.Y. a daughter of the late Walter and Kathleen Walsh Day. Donna was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Class of 1952, Amsterdam. She was united in marriage to Jack Schmandt in September of 1957, in Rome. Donna was a member of St. Peter's Church, Rome. She was formerly employed by Western Union and retired from Rome Cable Corporation after 25 years of service. She is survived by her beloved children; Michael (Debra) Schmandt, Rome, Tim (Mary Lynn) Schmandt, Rochester, Tom (Jennifer) Schmandt, Macedon, N.Y.; three sisters, Mary Wilson, Utica, Jean(Rick) Curry, Virginia, Pat (Ed) Urtz, Maryland; one brother, John Day, Rome; a brother-in-law, Frederick Schmandt, Rome; seven grandchildren, Katie, Allison, Ryan, David, Kimberly, Anna and Megan; along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack in 1974; a son Rob, in 1985; two sisters-in-law, Jean Dunn and Carol Schmandt; a brother –in-law James Schmandt. Memorial contribution may be made to the Palliative Care Program at 601 Elmwood Avenue Box 687 Rochester N.Y. 14642 Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Church. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday from 4-7 at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery
